anecdote sympa à l'époque raconté par réné château qui dans les années soixante dix était le chargé de publicité de jean paul belmondo il raconta comment l'affiche du film peur sur la ville fut inspiré par bullitt il dira(Si vous regardez l'affiche du film de Peter Yates, McQueen est en pull-over noir avec un holster. Or, dans le film, il n'est jamais habillé ainsi ! Dans " Peur sur la ville ", Belmondo n'apparaît non plus jamais en noir : ce sont des photos prises avant le tournage, aux essais, où, sur ma demande, l'habilleuse a vêtu Jean-Paul avec un pull-over et un pantalon noir. C'est donc un hommage à Steve McQueen... ")rené château

il est marrant de savoir qu'à l'origine l'aventurier au fouet s'appelait Indiana Smith… Officiellement en charge du film, Spielberg commença par bannir le nom de Smith qu'il trouvait trop banal et surtout trop proche de Nevada Smith, le western d'Henry Hathaway avec Steve McQueen (produit lui aussi par Paramount). Lucas suggéra en échange celui de Jones, tout aussi répandu, mais qui sonnait mieux à l'oreille…

steve arrêtera la série car Le problème vint de ce que les producteurs, eux, ne voyaient pas ainsi le personnage. Suivant la tradition du western, ils voulaient un héros taillé dans le roc de la bravoure, capable d’affronter plusieurs hommes à la fois et de s’en sortir vainqueur. McQueen au contraire souhaitait le rendre moins glorieux et plus humain : selon lui, un homme réellement intelligent n’affronterait pas plusieurs hommes à la fois mais tournerait d’abord les talons pour s’occuper de chaque adversaire, un par un, à la manière de l’Horace antique. Dans le même ordre d’idée, il s’opposa au look propret qu’on voulait imposer au personnage et choisit lui-même son chapeau

en 1974, Steve McQueen a vu dans le magazine Road and Track que sa Mustang était en vente. Il a donc contacté le vendeur pour l'acheter, mais ce dernier lui a indiqué quelle était déjà vendue et lui a donné les coordonnées de l'acheteur. McQueen a essayé de persuader le nouveau propriétaire de la lui céder, mais l'acteur est mort avant de pouvoir donner suite à son souhait

Alors que l'équipe du film tournait une scéne au quartier général de la police de Boston,un hold up fût commis et comme les figurants étaient de vrai policiers le tournage a du être interrompu.Ce film a couté des millions rien qu'en costumes et tenues diverses,vehicules etc... Il faut reconnaitre que l'acteur n'a jamais été aussi élégant en homme d'affaire , costume trois pièces de Ralph Lauren ainsi qu'une garde robe dessinée spécialement pour le film , sans parlé des tenues assez sexy de Faye Dunaway
